Hi Reader One of the examples I shared during a recent Care Business Hub webinar on the OWNER Framework™ came from a conversation I seem to have over and over again with care providers. I'll ask a simple question: "How many care hours does your business deliver each week?" More often than you'd think, they don't know. It isn't a trick question.
It isn't an accounting question.
It's one of the most important operational numbers in your business.
That single figure tells you far more than most people realise. It tells you whether you're making full use of your workforce or whether you have spare capacity. It tells you whether you can safely take on another package or whether you need to recruit first. It tells you your true capacity and whether your growth ambitions are realistic. Whether you're working towards your first £100,000 or your first £1 million in turnover, every goal starts with one simple question: How many care hours do we need to deliver to get there? If you don't know today's number, it's difficult to plan tomorrow's. This Week's LessonKnowing your numbers is where the real value lies. One number tells us where we are today.
Breaking it down tells us where the opportunities are tomorrow.
If we want to grow our private client base, we already know our starting point.
If we want to expand in a particular area, we know exactly how many hours we're already delivering there.
If one funding stream starts to decline, we'll spot it early and can respond before it becomes a much bigger issue.
Without that level of detail, you're growing in the dark. With it, every growth decision has a number behind it. Your Turn...Three things I'd encourage you to do this week:🟡1
Know your baseline.
Find out exactly how many care hours you're delivering each day and each week.
🟡2
Break it down.
Separate your hours by funding stream, such as private, Continuing Healthcare and Local Authority. If it helps your business, break them down by geographical area as well.
🟡3
Set one clear target.
Decide where you want those hours to grow over the next few months and measure your progress against it.
📌 This Week's TakeawayThe businesses that grow with confidence aren't necessarily the ones with the biggest ambitions.
They're the ones with the clearest numbers.
You can't grow what you don't measure. And you can't target what you haven't broken down. Over to you... If I asked you today, could you tell me how many care hours your business delivers each week? And could you break that figure down by funding stream? Hit reply and let me know I always love hearing your stories Next time, I'll take you inside another part of the business. p.s. if you are enjoying these newsletter and know someone else who will benefit, please share the link below:
